If you’re obsessed with clothes, you probably go out of your way to take care of them. So when you’re dealing with delicate fabrics, you often think that dry cleaning is the only option. But, more clothes are washable than you think.
First, always read the clothing label. When the label does not include “Dry Clean Only”, be sure to add Downy Fabric Conditioner to your wash—it protects your clothes from stretching, fading and fuzz.
How to wash wool sweaters.
Wool needs to be washed slightly differently than your other sweaters . Wool doesn’t need to be washed frequently, so wear your sweater a few times before washing. Use a delicate or hand-wash setting on the machine. The temperature setting should be the same for wash and rinse (either warm or cold). Use a detergent that’s safe for washable delicates, like Tide® Free & Gentle. Add Downy Fabric Conditioner to protect your sweater from stretching. Finally, lay your sweater flat to dry.
How to wash a silk blouse.
First, turn your blouse inside out. Use a delicate or hand-wash setting on the machine. Set temperature to cold/cold. Use just a small amount of Tide Free & Gentle detergent. Add Downy fabric conditioner to protect your blouse from pilling. As soon as the cycle ends, remove blouse promptly to reduce wrinkles. Then, lay flat to dry. Iron while still slightly damp (use a low setting).
How to wash dark denim.
Jeans can be tricky to wash, especially dark denim. Before washing, turn your jeans inside out, button any buttons, and zip up any zippers. Set your machine to a gentle or hand-wash setting. Use Tide TotalCare and add Downy to protect jeans from fading. Hang, and allow to air dry.
